Twitterlive.net will become a paid only service. Read here why.

As a small company we have discovered it is not economically viable for us to offer freemium plans any longer. As a result Twittelive will become a paid only service. This will enables us to offer 100% of our value and support to paying customers.

We do not make this decision lightly. It comes after spending more than a year tryign to make the freemium model work.

As an unfunded self supporting project we have decided it is best for us to focus all our time and effort on our paid customers from this point forward.

In the next few week All existing free users will be moved into Twiterlive’s new 15 day free trial system. After the 15 day free trial expires users will be required to pay a subscription if they wish to continue using Twitterlive.

Why would you pay for a service that is offered by other companies for free? Besides customer service a small user base means a better and more reliable service for everyone. Other services that have hunders of thousands feeds can hardly offer a good service.

Our goal is to offer a solid service. This type of tool is very demanding in terms of hardware and software; the more rss feeds you handle the more difficult becomes to have a reliable service.

Thanks for your understanding and we hope you stay with us in the future.
The new pricing model will be made available soon.

  1. It will be great if you can offer freemium services for 1 feed and then charge for additional feeds. The revenue model needs to be tweaked else I think you will loose most of your loyal accounts on 15th Nov.

    • Actually the response from the current users has been better than I thought. Granted, a lot of people is going to leave the service, but I was expecting that. I prefer to have less users and offer them better service.
For me is about quality of service and not quantity of feeds that I have on my service. The reason that I did not offer one feed free of charge is that I know for experience that a a lot of users would set up as many
accounts as they need to get themselves covered for their needs. I don’t want that. I think a charge of $1.99 is really low (for god sake is just $1.99/month!) and will accomplished the goal that I want for the service.
Free accounts at the end of the day use hardware and database resources that would affect the paid users. So, to finish my thought there is no need to tweak the revenue model at all. I spend over a year panning
this transition. Thanks a lot for your comment.
